This is what to do (as part of moving to cooperative equilibrium) in more detail: 1. Announce (e.g. on social media / forum / anything else) that you are going to give $X money to one of the people / team of people who deserves it the most or who needs it the most. 2. People who deserve the money can be: 1. Someone / some team who has significantly contributed to make the world better but who hasn't been rewarded for that sufficiently through our economical system (monetary trade). 2. Someone / some team who made a reasonable attempt to make the world better but didn't succeed. 3. People who need the money can be: 1. Someone / some team that has potential to make the world a better place but who doesn't have sufficient resources. 2. Someone / some group of people that need more resources because they are poor. Due to diminishing marginal utility of resources (including money), poor people need money or other resources more that the other people. 4. The recipient of the reward / donation can be anything (company, fund, charity, individual...). 5. Write why you do that (to kick off the trend of switching to Altruisticland), explain the philosophy behind it (you can share a link to this post) and encourage people to do the same. 6. Request people to give you propositions who deserves money or needs money. They should be able to propose themselves as well (while providing the evidence of the contribution). 7. Then choose one person / team with probability proportional to the following factors and give them money. I recommend to make the decision based on the following factors: 1. For rewarding past contributions: 1. Impact - how much utility has been generated or could be generated (in case of a reasonable failed attempt) 2. Success - has the contribution been successful 3. Cost - how much it costed (in terms of money, effort, time...) to make the contribution 4. Evidence - the strength of evidence that the contribution has been actually made 2. For giving money to people who need them: 1. Impact - how much utility it will generate 2. Evidence - the strength of evidence that the impact will be made 8. It's better to sample randomly a person / team with probability proportional to the factors, rather choosing a person/team that maximizes the factors because that incentivizes small impacts as well. 9. Then give money to that person / team. 10. Repeat doing the above thing every month / year. If it works at creating a trend of giving money, then give increase the amount. If it doesn't work, then lower the amount to decrease the risk. 11. You can also give other things than money. For example, if you have a big following, you can donate the attention of people who follow you. Attention is a resource that many teams need to make their projects successful. 12. If you've done that, then please contact me and inform me. It might be useful to keep track of people who've done that to be able to show evidence that it works.
